I have a Turkey Avocado sandwich , with the works it is so good they have med & Large , I always get the med because it's big a med can feed two people , or one side for now and one for later, their Fry's are very good to , and cole slaw is great , I think they only take cash , but well worth it .

Fast and efficient service. Don't be like me and forget to bring cash though! Luckily my cash-carrying husband was with me. Got the Italian and the regular was enough to share between us. Looking forward to trying the pastrami next.

TLDR: I can't wait to grab a sandwich from the Yellow Submarine again real real soon! My mouth is watering just thinking about the two Italian Combos I've engulfed prior to finalizing this review :P NOTE: CASH ONLY!!! Longer version: We walked in, group of 3, toward the end of the day after wandering the Botanical Gardens looking at all the beautiful spring blooms. They have every classic sub option under the sun, plus a few veggie options. I wanted a classic Italian sub, and this did not disappoint -- the perfect combo of salty cured meats, melty provolone, toppings including pickles, mustard... YUM. The medium is as big as my head, the large... like a whole newborn baby. My bestie got a classic turkey, my boyfriend got the pepper steak (he's been here many times before) and they were both pleased. This is a family run shop. I can only assume matriarch/grandmother of the family was (wo)manning the grill & add that special nonna love into each creation. Service with a smile, and a sincere "have a good day" when you walk out the door. There's plenty of seating inside, and you can definitely see that length of time they've been in business looking at the old school checkered floor. Love supporting businesses like this :D

Probably one of my fav sandwich spots in the city! I've been going for a few *decades* now they never disappoint. Also, the people that run this place are the nicest! I always get a regular turkey with their house made hot sauce- so good! And get their fries! Some of the best I've had! Tip: they're cash only. And call in your order if you don't have time to wait.

I love Yellow Submarine. So much to where I look forward to seeing the sweet old meemaw and her son who do everything by hand. The customer service is kind, welcoming, and genteel. The home fries, the house hot sauce, that pepper steak sandwich, it's a taste of home. It reminds me of Sunday dinners at my great grandmothers house . It makes you want to open scrapbooks and photo albums reminiscent of yesteryear. Bourgeois NIMBY San Franciscans will hate on Yellow Submarine. True locals will adore this Sunset Institution.

I was here again for the 2nd time on 11/10/2023 and I ordered pepper steak large sandwich. It was huge and taste good . I forgot about it that they are CASH ONLY .

Family run sandwich shop, competitive prices, neighborhood joint. Sandwiches served on soft French roll, they are big and they are affordable by SF standard. Service was cordial and welcoming. I've had the medium pastrami today, it was worth the money I thought. Nothing special just a good neighborhood sandwich shop to have and frequent if you happen to live in the neighborhood.
